In the creative world, the only constant is change.
[summary of an article at IHT_7_28] Design in all about change. It can help use to understand the changes in the world around us, and turn them to our advantage by translating them into things that make our lives more efficient or enjoyable, sometimes both. the most thrilling periods = the greatest change = 1920s machine age, 1960s space age. the pace of change is faster than ever today. 1. Technological change : ex) concept car : Gina = super-tough fabric shrouding a metal skeleton. 2. Environmental change : something good out of something bad : after all one of out vest hopes of developing new products, sytems and networks to help repair the damage caused already, and to enable us to behave more responsible in the future. : ex) Gina : less material and energy when manufacturing the car 3. Sytemic Change : Social Design, Service Design, the New Design : the institutions are no longer fit fot purpose.: Design thinking the helps to invent more efficient alternatives. : ex) D.School at Stanford University/ Participle and Live Work/ IDEO (wow, I didn't know about this kind of Designing! It is truly impressive!!) 4. Change for change's sake : Please Don't do that!! : ex )google holiday logos - too often!/ Britain's commemorative stamps -> sometimes designers admit that they made mistakes by reintroducing old ones like "I ♡ NY" logo and Coke old loge. |
